That’s some pretty ballsy truth in advertising. I love it.

For 15 and 4 respectively, I’ll just take both!
I had no idea they were doing this sort of ad well before the ones I remember from the 80s

Volvo was the humble persons car. You didn’t buy it to meet an image. You bought it because you knew you didn’t want to attract attention while being different. My dad loved Volvo’s. When we lived in Thailand, a Volvo was on a similar level to a Mercedes. It took my family a long time to get enough wealth once we came to the US to buy one in 2000, a S80 T6. It was a nice car that he only drove on Tuesdays; he had a 1994 Ford Arostar 4WD as a daily. It was not tr
ouble free and we ended up trading it in for a 2006 Lexus RX400h which was/is a 1000% times more reliable and overall a better car. We still have the Lexus and my dad is now a Lexus convert
.
Though,
I still remember the buttery smooth leather in the S80 and also what it meant for my father (a humble person
) to buy it.

Can’t say for certain, but it rings like a B ern bach ad (of VW and Levy’s fame).

I think it
was something special for him and he didn’t want to rack up the miles. He didn’t like to spend money on himself and the car
was the first nice thing he bought for himself
since he came to the country.

I prefer the one with a Countach pulling a trailer

Yeah, that and the one with the porsche that “to a radar gun, they are the same”
I just chose the one above because of the Ferarri reference.

I’m just wondering if Buster Keaton was known for being particularly un-Jewish.
